September 18, 2004 -- Sunrise 2005, the United States of America may tighten the security demands on Container traffic entering US territory in order to contain potential threats of terrorism which may attempt to enter USA via a Container, which may compromise US security.
To meet such potential security demands, TriaGnoSys GmbH and MobinTeleCom Oy have combined their technology resources to pioneer a state-of-the-art, high security GSM-GPRS-GPS-RFID based communication and monitoring solution.
Monitoring of Container Door Seals on high seas using a land-based GSM Mobile telephone is now a practical reality. Until recently, expensive satellite tracking was the only available solution to monitor assets in remote areas and on the middle of the Oceans. Apart from the high costs, satellite tracking has its own technical restrictions and practical reservations.
The GPRS-SMS Gateway Platform has been announced for commercial deployment through a marketing collaboration between TriaGnoSys GmbH of Wessling and MobinTeleCom Oy of Helsinki. The technology is based on research in the WirelessCabin project. GSM connectivity and Internet access whether On Land, On Air, On Sea, is now a reality.
The turnkey solution offered by MobinTeleCom consists of a Tri Band 900-1800-1900 GSM-GPRS-GPS Telematics Transceiver integrated with a RFID Transponder on the Container Door Seal. Regular heartbeat pulses transmitted by the Transponder, keeps the Telematics Black Box installed within the inside of the Container Door, fully informed of the status of the Door Seal. Any breach of security, compromise or tamper of the Door Seal triggers an alarm instantly to the security monitoring station on ground, giving co-ordinates, with the date and time of the incident.
The Telematics Black Box transmits GPRS data packets at predetermined intervals or on-demand, through the GPRS-SMS Gateway Platform via a satellite connection to a ground security monitoring station.
The collected data, monitored by a security monitoring facility, is made available to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Customs & Border Protection (CBP) officers at predetermined schedules or on-demand, over GSM or via the Internet. This information may facilitate the CBP to consider granting of permission to the asset(s), to enter or deny access, to USA territory.
The potential customers, who require their containerized cargo cleared with Priority Status, may be requested by US DHS-CBP to prove the integrity of the Container Door Seal prior to the container vessel entering US territorial waters, by production of a Comprehensive Journey Report, from point of departure up to the point of arrival.
The business model adopted by MobinTeleCom is a convenient solution, the delivery of a Complete Journey Report, for presentation to CBP without the responsibilities of all the mechanicals and logistics of the exercise, to the user. Rent-it-Here and Leave-it-There with all the formalities attended to over the Internet, gives the Consignee a peace of mind, says Stephen Lowe, CEO of MobinTeleCom, Helsinki.
TriaGnoSys and MobinTeleCom may offer this turnkey service globally, through a limited network of franchisees, who are expected to satisfy stringent security demands.
The convenience of using ones own GSM mobile or PDA or the Laptop seamlessly in a train or boat or plane, and receive one monthly invoice from ones own Telecom Services Provider is one benefit, says Dr. Axel Jahn the Managing Partner of TriaGnoSys GmbH and Senior Projects Manager of German Aerospace Center. Of course, the ability to have seamless connectivity anywhere, all the time, is an invaluable business tool. The applications and usefulness are limitless, confirms Dr. Jahn.
Seamless GSM connectivity, SMS, Email and Internet access whether one is travelling by train, or by boat or by plane, is now a new customer-service, a commercial opportunity and a reality, giving both customer satisfaction and an opportunity to create a new revenue stream says Stephen Lowe.
Companies who are interested in partnering in this lucrative security-driven business concept are invited to contact MobinTeleCom, Helsinki, immediately.
Apart from marine related security applications, MobinTeleCom and TriaGnoSys welcome enquiries from operators of Commercial and Executive Aircraft, Cruise Ships, and Intercity or Transcontinental Fast Trains.
Security and Defence applications, businesses in remote locations who are seeking cost-effective seamless GSM communications and Internet access may seek solutions from the GPRS-SMS Gateway Platform.

Global Positioning System (GPS)
Global Positioning System (GPS) is a world-wide satellite navigation infrastructure funded and controlled by the U.S. Department of Defense, originally developed for U.S. military purposes. GPS provides satellite signals that enable GPS receivers to calculate their exact position and velocity. The GPS infrastructure has three segments. The space segment consists of 24 satellites that orbit the earth every 12 hours. The control segment consists of tracking stations located around the world, with the master control station located at Falcon Air Force Base in Colorado. The user segment consists of GPS receivers and users utilizing the information provided by the system. GPS is widely used in e.g. marine navigation, and Telematics Security Monitoring.
Cell to Cell (C2C) Concept
The Security Monitoring Communication system communicates between the GPRS-SMS Gateway Platform and the Mobile GSM Cells.
The container ships used in the international traffic are designed with the cells (compartments with cell guides resembling a honeycomb wherein the containers are placed, thus named Cellular Container Ships. The Mobile GSM Cell communicates within the Containers in compartments with cell guides.
