A NEW STANDARD of SECURITY for HOTEL GUESTROOM DOORS ESTABLISHED by ARIZONA COMPANY

Beaverton, Oregon August 12, 2003 -- EntryWay Security Products, LLC, an Arizona company, has established a new standard in hotel and motel guestroom door safety and security with the EntryWay Eagle Door Intercom and Viewing System. Hotels and motels can now offer their guests a system on each and every door that will allow the guest to not only see, but talk to persons at their door while it remains closed and locked.

The EntryWay Eagle system ensures that each guest has control over their own safety and security at the guestroom door. Guests utilizing the EntryWay system will allow hotels and motels the opportunity to experience a significant reduction of crime at the door and by this means, a reduction in liability claims.

Posted in every lodging room and relayed to travelers by law enforcement agencies and security experts is the statement, “Do not open your door until you are sure who it is.” Until now, a hotel or motel guest could not communicate with the person on the other side of the door without opening the door or yelling through it.

Hotels and motels have spent thousands of dollars at each property installing deadbolts and electronic locks, but these measures are of little value when the door is opened to communicate with a visitor at the guestroom door. Once opened, the guest’s “Last Line of Defense” has been breached and they are placed in a compromising position. With EntryWay Security Product’s system the guest will not need to open the door to communicate with visitors at the guestroom door.

While the primary function of the system is that of safety and security, it offers additional benefits. The system has a door chime feature so that guests can be called to the door by a pleasant chime rather than the harsh knock on the door that reverberates through the walls to adjoining rooms. An added benefit of the intercom system is that of a convenience, when the guest is not in a state of preparedness to be seen by visitors, they may remain behind a closed door and still communicate with the visitor. Any lodging guest can attest to this situation.

Further the intercom may be used as a listening device, so the guest can see and hear a disturbance that may be taking place in the hallway outside the door without having to open it. As visitors on properties that have installed the systems become aware of this function, the entire hotel or motel property becomes more secure as visitors now know there can be many witnesses to their activity.

Hotels and motels finally have a cost effective method of providing their invaluable guests the safety, security and convenience they deserve and have a right to expect. Recent surveys and studies conclude that lodging guests are willing to pay an additional 5% to 10% above current room rates to have enhanced safety and security on the lodging property. The one-time capital expenditure for the low cost solution offered by EntryWay Security Products for security at the guestroom door should have no impact on room rates.

The EntryWay Eagle Door Intercom and Viewing system was developed by inventor Gary Hawkins, President and CEO of EntryWay Security Products. Mr. Hawkins, a 30 year veteran of law enforcement, witnessed the results of countless crimes at hotels and motels as a result of guests opening their doors to visitors since there was no alternative method of communication.

The many years of development and testing allowed Mr. Hawkins the opportunity to obtain suggestions from various lodging property owners and included a number of these suggestions in the final product. The EntryWay Eagle was designed to retrofit into the same hole used for the door viewer (peep hole) already installed in guestroom doors, reducing installation time to minutes.

An extra wide angle (180 degree) extended length viewer provides the visual capabilities of the system and is utilized to mount the internal and external units to the door. The system is battery operated so as not to rely on the property’s power in case of a failure.

The “Patented” EntryWay Eagle system offers one button operation of the unit by the user allowing for easy operation by people of all ages and the volume control provides assistance to the hearing impaired. Utilizing today’s solid state technology EntryWay designed into the system a microprocessor to provide battery management for extended life and there is a visual indicator to notify to the lodging maintenance staff when the battery requires replacement. In addition to hotels and motels, users that stand to benefit from the EntryWay Security Products’ system are businesses and agencies with secured entry or internal doors, campus dormitory rooms, apartment dwellers, and private home owners. Cost and ease of installation will make the EntryWay Eagle an excellent choice for all users to improve safety and security at an entry or secured door.
